Where a class or small number of pupils need to self-isolate, or there is a local or national lockdown requiring pupils to remain at home, The Department for Education expects schools to have the capacity to offer immediate remote education.
The expectations for remote learning are as follows:
For Key Stage 1, three hours of remote education must be provided. The DfE said provision will include “both recorded or live direct teaching time, and time for pupils to complete tasks and assignments independently”.
Key stage 2 pupils should be provided with four hours remote education a day
It is more important than ever to ensure that our students are equipped with the skills to be able to work and learn remotely. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of online learning for children.
