Computing

Finding our talent in computing...

At Swillington Primary School, our mission is to provide a transformative cradle to career education that allows our children to enjoy lives of choice and opportunity.

Our aim is that computing will develop our children’s understanding of the ever-changing technological world and to develop their awareness of the dangers that they face when they are using online platforms. We want children to see the benefits of technology and how it can help them in their day to day life within and outside of school.

Due to the pandemic and disruptions to the teaching of computing, we have altered our long term plans to reflect this (see document below).

Use the QR code below to log a problem you may have had online. School can support you with this.

Digital Leaders

A digital leader is a Southern Hemisphere (KS2) pupil who is part of a digital leaders’ team within our school, their role is to support the use of technology, particularly iPads and laptops across the school.

They do a variety of jobs including:

• Ensuring iPads and Laptops are charged for the next day.
• Support the use of iPads and computers in school to support learning.
• Share their skills and expertise with other pupils, classes and teachers.
• Set up equipment in classrooms for teachers.
• Lead lunchtime or after school computing / iPad clubs.
• Run or contribute to parents’ meetings around online safety.
• Have a good understanding of how to stay safe with technology and share that with others.
