Admission Arrangements for Pupils Year 1 to Year 6

If your child is already of school age, please contact the school to arrange to discuss your application with the Headteacher at a mutually convenient time. You will also need to obtain a copy of the In Year Common Preference Form which you can download from the links below. If you would like a place, return the form to school, ensuring you ask for a receipt. We will advise you about your application then contact you to let you know if we can offer you a place. We will write to you confirming your offer. If we are unable to offer you a place, the Leeds Admissions Team will contact you to advise of the schools in your area and any vacancies at these schools. You will have the right to appeal to an independent panel for the school you have been refused entry to.

Reception

All admissions to Reception are organised through the Leeds Admissions Unit. If your child was born between 1st September 2016 and 31st August 2017 inclusive you are eligible to apply for a Reception place for September 2021. For September 2021, applications opened on 1st November 2020. Applications for a school place must be made by 15th January 2021. We recommend choosing five schools to give your child the best chance of getting a place at a school you prefer. If you live outside Leeds and want your child to go to a school in Leeds, you must apply to your own local authority and they will inform us of your request. Going to a school's nursery does not guarantee your child a place at that school.

Parents and Carers of children starting school in September 2021

You will be informed of your child's school offer via email on national offer day, 16th April 2021. Please confirm your place by emailing the school. In light of Covid-19, we anticipate that emails will remain the most appropriate way to accept your place. Once we know our exact intake, we begin the process of ensuring every child’s entry into school is happy and relaxed. This usually begins in the summer term before the September start. In light of the Covid-19 situation, we are currently waiting to plan our summer term transition arrangements. Once we have confirmation of your child's place with us, we will contact you directly and keep you informed of our plans as we go through the summer term.

Invitation to apply letters

If your child is due to start primary school in September 2021, you will receive a letter inviting you to apply before 1 November 2020. Your address puts you in the priority catchment area for a particular school and the letter tells you which school this is. It is the school at which your child has a higher priority for admission under the school’s admission policy. It is recommended that you include this school as one of your five preferences, even if it is your fifth preference, although there is no guarantee that you will be offered a place. After completing your online application, you will receive an email confirming it has been received. If you don’t receive an email, your application has not been completed properly. You should log back in and make sure the form is fully completed. If you live outside Leeds and want your child to go to a school in Leeds, you must apply to your own local authority and they will inform us of your request.

If you're moving home

You should apply now, using your current address. If you move before 12 February 2021, you can make changes to your application.
